OK, so I decided (darn those wild thoughts) to make a skin for SL.
Mostly to learn how this works but I thought it might be 'fun' to make ME.
(ugh, what was I thinking?? lol)
Here is what I've done so far.

So first I found a pic of me
(don't look too closely at this, ok? lol)

(yes, these images are all smaller than what
I am really working with)
I then cut and pasted parts of my picture onto a special SL template for doing heads/faces.
I ended up with something like this.

Kinda creepy looking     O.o

Yes, I do have freckles     :P

So this skin now has MY nose, lips, eyelids, eyebrows, freckles, ears, etc.

I haven't done any make-up yet, that will come later.
I uploaded my new skin and...
the first thing I notice is that it is a tad more pale than my template picture.

SLs lighting (or whatever) is a little different, I guess.

I also can see something odd going on with the bottom part of the nose and I've lost my eyelashes.

*sigh*
So back at the template.
I change the skin to slightly transparent so I can use SLs appearence editor to adjust the skin tone.

That worked ok I guess (see difference between shoulders/neck and face). However I could now see the avatar's built in eyebrows and lips a little. UGH....(doesn't show in this pic though, sorry)

I did get my eyelashes back, however they look 'clumpy' so will need to work on those. I also notice that my eyebrows look sort of gray, I will need to remember to adjust those as well.
So, I removed the transparency from the file and added a slight 'tan' to the image. You can now also see where I added the black (upper right corner) for the eyelashes.
(different avatar so the face shape is a little different)

OK, try #3. No transparency, slight tan, underside of nose fixed, eyelashes showing (though not 'declumped' yet) and eyebrows a little darker. Maybe makeup would help? lol

Changed the skin on the body to match face and started adding details (as you can see by the collar bones)

*whew*....and nowhere near ready to use, lol
So, back at it again.
I will post more as I work on it.
